Canon and Sony digital camcorder features and reviews

Digital camcorders have a considerable price range and it is important to understand the difference from one model to the next. If you are in the market for a digital camcorder then be sure to review all the specifications and features before you buy.

The most popular feature of the digital camcorder is the LCD screen. If you are going to purchase one you will not regret paying the added cost for and LCD screen and the bigger it is, the more you will appreciate it. You can shoot a picture of an action shot, replay it, and view what you shot to see if it is worth saving. Other people can also see what you captured. The LCD screen if far better to view than looking through a little eyepiece.

The next important decision is what type of format or tape do you prefer. You have a choice of VHS, which you can play in a VCR, an 8mm tape that stores far more that a VHS, or, a digital video, which allows you to load directly onto your computer. The digital video (DV) costs more however if far more popular.

Digital camcorders have various lens options for you to choose from. The Sony digital camcorder features the Carl Zeiss lens, which delivers an exceptional quality image. You need to know what the difference is between the digital zoom and the optical zoom. Digital zoom digitally enlarges and image, sacrificing the image quality. Optical zoom changes the focal settings allowing you to focus on the details without loss of image quality.

All digital camcorders will take still photos and Canon digital camcorders are no exception. You will prefer a camcorder with a flash memory card so you can easily transfer pictures on to your computer. You just take the card out of the camcorder and place it into a card reader, the pictures are now available on your computer screen to be sent to others via email or Internet, or use software programs to manipulate the existing pictures.
